MORELIA, MICHOACÁN

We headed to Morelia which is 4 hrs west of Mexico City. It is still a big city with many old world bldgs and stone cobbled sts. Much of it reminds me of Europe. On Saturday night they have a big light show with fireworks on the Cathedral. Than after that a few blocks away another one on the Historic Mexican Arts & Crafts Bldg.
We came to Morelia to see the Monarch Butterfly Migration and also visit cousins here. The migration was Awesome. It was an hour out of town . We had to take a truck there with 8 seats in the back of the bed! After an hour we had a 20 minute hike. Today’s migration is 5% of what it used to be because the Monarch butterfly is facing extinction. So if you have milkweed by your house, don’t cut it down. On our way down the trail we ran strait into a bull and a cow on our path walking down. I admit I was scared passing that bull !
On our way back to Morelia we stopped and had lunch at a trout farm! Lots of Great Experinces! So Blessed to have our health and be able to enjoy this FUN..

We have been enjoying Mexico City and I really have to say the people here are the most welcoming and kind people we have met in almost anywhere we have traveled. We went to the Frida Kahlo Museum/House, Xochomilco which is a colorful boat ride down a canal in the city, the Basilica of Guadalupe , the pyramids which they discovered while digging to build and expand the city. They saved some of it and artifacts they found. Amazing! So many cool and different thing here!!
